3rd Work Weekend Goes To Plan

Our last Work Weekend, May 23-24th sets a new attendance record. We had 34 people attend including alumni Mike Bruns, Liz Carivan, John Fisher, Jon Hodos, Sarah Perks, Ike Sucato, and Darlene Ward. We were also very pleased to have the Foley family rejoin us for the first time since camp closed. The Foley's were the family who sold their farm land to W.W. Smith in 1928, who then gave it to the YMCA to start camp Wa Wa Segowea at its current location. Enjoy the photos of this weekend.

Your friendly raking specialists.

The Foley's joined us on Sunday from Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire.

And tested out some of our kayaks with us.

Look at all those beautiful bunk beds...

...and all that sanding to do!

What a beautiful spot.

2nd Work Weekend, May 9-10th 2009

We had over 20 folks attend our past Work Weekend.
Thank you alumni for coming out and joining us!
Ted Becker, Liz Carivan, David B. Easton, Kim, Bruce, and Laura Beckius, Georgia Lopresti-Meckes, Betsy, Lily, and Sarah Mercogliano, Lisha Mittleman, Ann Olson, Nancy Ost, Minna Prisco, Mike Snyder & Jess Fortin, George Snyder, Ike Sucato, Richard Thomas, and Boo Van Alstyne

Group shot just after lunch.

Ike Sucato, who first began his Wa Wa Segowea days in 1943 up from Virginia to volunteer for a week at camp. (Surrounded by staff, Norm and Toby).

David and Lily take a break from raking just long enough to smile for the camera.

Ann Olson, Toby, and Norm removing staples and nails from the cabins.

Late into the evening, alumni discuss future programming possibilities at camp. (And Boo gets excited about horses...)

Minna looks way too comfortable with Norm's nail gun.

Ike respooling the weed-wacker.

Liz enjoying a moment on the porch.

Ted and Ann looking suspiciously at the photographer (Georgia Lopresti-Meckes).

Alumni learning about programming options from videos of other camps.

Where's the dessert?

Sarah Mercogliano chasing down Richard Thomas.

Rich and David enjoying the leaves.

The Snyder's sanding and varnishing bunkbeds.

Breaking for lunch in the newly remodeled dining room in Hart Lodge.

Kim Beckius' birthday cake, provided by her loving dad George Snyder. Kim was last at camp in 1976 as a staff child and is featured in the cake running a fotune telling booth at a camp activity.

Raking out the ditch. The second worst job I've been assured by recent staff, the first is underwater raking of the swim area.

The ditch is open and the water begins flowing.

If Norm and Richard are both on it, I'm sure it will get up and running.

Raking and cleaning out in front of the lodge.
