It's the end of Session 8 at YMCA Camp Wa Wa Segowea!

Much of camp is centered around base camp and the waterfront is a large part of base camp.  So it's quite often we spend a lot of time in and around Harmon Pond.  Every camper takes swimming lessons starting out as Guppies, and advancing to the level of Fish and then Sharks. There's the C Dock for the Guppies and the Big Dock for the fish and sharks.  There's also the rope swing across the lake at the Outpost for the advanced swimmers, which campers agree is outstanding!  Our newly revamped boat dock area now highlights the waterfront, complete with canoes, rowboats and the new standup paddleboards.  We also have the beautiful sailboats, that on a breezy summer afternoon, going for a ride can't be beat!    Fishing has become popular again this summer with many fish being caught and a select few even cooked up for dinner!   Wa Wa Wally, the camp mascot snapping turtle has been spotted a few times either sunning himself or swimming close to a few boats which delights many campers.  We love our waterfront!

We do have Open Boating just about every night to take advantage of being out on Harmon Pond and this past session, Session 8, was our largest of the summer!  Many, many kids took their first boat ride, learned how to swamp a canoe and perhaps stood on a paddleboard for the first time.  Some of the week's activities had a connection to the waterfront as well.  There was swimming in the Olympics, a "Dunk Tank" booth in Carnival and the closing Chapel ceremony which overlooks the water in a beautiful location.

Here's the week in pictures!
