It's the end of Sixth Session at YMCA Camp Wa Wa Segowea!

We're past the half way mark for the summer here at YMCA Camp Wa Wa Segowea, and the sessions keep rolling along!  We've just a couple left as we're into Session 7 currently.  Session 8 is full, but we do have a few spaces for Session 9, the last one.  If your child wants to go to or missed it so much they want to return to camp, give us a call here at 413-229-9110.

First wake-up call is at 7:15 AM every day and at that time, campers are able to leave their cabins to start their day.  It's some times the same campers that wake up early and come down to the main lodge.  A stray soccer ball is likely on the parade field as well as one or two life jackets that need to get hung up.  Dew is on the grass and a low fog is on Harmon Pond.  The barn swallows fly in and out of the lodge and other birds are carrying on their own wake up calls.  7:30 AM is the time for 2nd wake-up call and music is being played over the PA system.  Nothing too heavy for first thing in the morning and it's just like having a clock radio on your nightstand, except no snooze alarm!   7:45 AM is the call for waiters to come to the dining hall and set their cabins tables.   More and more campers are starting to stir and even a few basketballs are heard being bounced in the lodge.  7:55 AM is then flag raising.  The announcement goes out "All Campers, Counselors and CIT's, please report to the Parade Field and line up by cabins".  The announcement is repeated and the campers hurry (or are supposed to hurry) down to the field where a head count is done and then one cabin is chosen to raise the flag.  After the flag is raised, everyone moves to the side porch and waits for the go ahead from the kitchen to come in for breakfast!

So begins every day at camp but the activities always change!  In Session 6, we had the Opening Night campfire of course, but also a twist on the traditional Counselor Hunt.  This time we had the CIT Hunt and that really got the CIT's involved in the activity.  We also had "Get to Know Your Counselor", a very popular Dance and the highly anticipated Olympics!
